Barcelona, September 19, 2024 – In its commitment to the development of talent in the technological fields, Fractus has awarded two UPC – Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya outstanding students:
- Ignacio Martínez Bañeres, a student from the Barcelona School of Telecommunications Engineering (ETSETB), has been awarded the Fractus PARS Excellence Scholarship.
- Antonio Alarcón García-Saavedra, a student from the Barcelona School of Informatics, received the award for Best Master’s Thesis in Cybersecurity.
These initiatives are part of the Fractus-UPC Deep Tech Hub, an ecosystem that fosters collaboration between academia and industry to promote innovative technologies that respond to the needs of today’s market.
According to Dr. Carmen Borja, CTO of Fractus, supporting young talent is key to the company’s mission: “We strongly believe in the importance of providing opportunities to the brightest students. Ignacio and Antonio’s achievements reflect the impact they can have on society and the future of technology.”
The Fractus Scholarship award ceremony took place on September 18 in the Vertex Auditorium of the ETSETB (Barcelona), coinciding with the start of the Telecommunications and Electronics degrees. Ignacio Martínez Bañeres, awarded for his outstanding academic record, expressed his gratitude: “This recognition is a great honor. The key to success in such a demanding career is perseverance and passion for subjects such as mathematics”. In addition, Ignacio has ambitious plans, including the possibility of doing internships and studying abroad.
Antonio Alarcón, awarded for his research on attack detection in IoMT networks using machine learning models, has been another of the young promises recognized by Fractus. His project, which has aroused great interest for its application of artificial intelligence, was presented on September 18 at the Campus Nord of the UPC-Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. With a background combining aerospace and telecommunications, Antonio plans to pursue a career in research, aiming for a PhD.
Through these awards, Fractus reaffirms its commitment to support future generations of engineers, providing opportunities for talented and visionary students to lead the technological advances that will transform the future.
