Barcelona-London, March 11, 2019 – For the third consecutive year at the Mobile World Congress, the Barcelona-based antenna technology company Fractus SA, assisted by its UK licensing partner Vectis IP Ltd, carried out enforcement actions against unlicensed companies selling mobile phones infringing Fractus’ antenna patents.
The Barcelona Patent Courts granted and enforced a preliminary injunction and an additional inspection order at the Mobile World Congress against unlicensed companies and products found to be infringing were seized.
Jordi Ilario, Vice President, Licensing at Fractus, commented: “Our successful collaboration with Vectis continues to yield results and once again the Barcelona Courts have recognized the value of Fractus IP in awarding a now unprecedented number of preliminary injunctions over the past three years. Such actions are part of an ongoing worldwide enforcement campaign that will stop infringement of the Fractus patents and create a level playing field for the protection of our licensees.”
Sandro Spina, Director of Licensing at Vectis, added: “After over three years of cooperation with Fractus, the antenna program is now recognized globally and the number of licensees is growing, particularly in China. Regrettably, some companies do not respect IP, and think that “freeriding” at the expense of patent owners and licensees has no consequence or cost. The injunctions at MWC over multiple years demonstrate that this is not the case and show that disrespecting IP rights costs more than following the law”.
