Barcelona, April 18, 2024 – Dr. Carmen Borja, Fractus CTO, captivated a young audience with her exciting journey towards innovation during the second session of the Girls Day at the European Patent Office (EPO).
From her early days to her role as a renowned inventor, Carmen shared how each step in her life led to her professional success. Her participation not only inspired the young women present, but also provided them with guidance on how to forge their own paths towards innovation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Girls Day at the EPO, held on 18 and 25 April in The Hague and Munich respectively, was a key event to promote gender diversity in fields such as STEM. More than 200 girls, aged 11-14, gathered as part of the Girls Day initiative. This is the sixth consecutive occasion that the EPO has participated in this international effort to promote careers in traditionally male-dominated fields.
The event combined technology and creativity through workshops and presentations designed to develop problem-solving skills, increase confidence, and open up new career prospects for participants.
